A New Business
Friday, 22nd April 2011 10:16 AM
When I originally moved to Blubberhouses it was intended that we share a workshop but work on our own pieces, occasionally working on larger pieces together. It has not actually turned out that way, we have shared the work a lot more than anticipated and divided the income depending on the hours worked on the piece. A complication with this system is that David does less bench time than I, but is very good at costing, pricing and customer liaison. This means that his valuable contribution was not rewarded fully.
To remedy this we have formed a limited company, Designer Makers Ltd, which should ensure a more equitable division of income. The business will have three aspects; Designer Makers Furniture, which encompasses our workshop activity, ie furniture and interiors making; Designer Makers Gallery and Chris Tribe Furniture Making Courses. Our activities will be broadly the same but hopefully we will be more efficient and equitable.
This is quite an exciting time for us and I intend to keep you informed of our progress.
