Chris Tribe Furniture

Chris Tribe’s career in furniture making started in 1990. Initially he was influenced by the Shakers rigorous approach to design and making. His style has since developed considerably from the minimalist forms of the Shakers to incorporate varied surface decoration and curved forms and now shows influence from Art Deco, Arts and Crafts and the Bauhaus. However he still strives for the highest standards in design and making.
The majority of his work is to commission, the challenge here is to marry his design vocabulary with the clients' requirements, hopefully a satisfying process for both maker and client. To find out more about commissioning a piece of furniture please go to Commissioning.
Every year he likes to make a number of speculative pieces. Speculative work allows the development of new design ideas and experimentation with new techniques. His range of work is extensive, from whole room layouts involving large fitted wardrobes and cupboards to delicate jewellery boxes.
