Blanket Box
This piece, which I am just completing, is for my longest standing customers (about 18yrs). They wanted some storage furniture that would fit a particular space in their lounge. They also wanted it to serve as a coffee table if they moved to a smaller house. The over hanging lid should help in fulfilling the dual function. The dovetailed corners are a feature used in other pieces I have previously made for the room.
Other small details in the piece are the walnut inlay separating the burr from the oak edging on the lid and the walnut plinth, this matches with some CD drawers recently delivered. Inside the chest is a sliding tray for holding easy to access items. The bottom of the chest and the tray are in solid Cedar of Lebanon, so there is a beautiful aroma when the lid is raised
