Maple sideboard with marquetry doors

Chris has not worked on a piece of furniture with the marquetarian Christine Meyer-Eaglestone for over three years and now two pieces come along at the same time!Grid IV low sideboard in maple with marquetry doors

The low side board, Grid IV, was made especially for this years Celebration of Craftsmanship and Design in Cheltenham where it received high praise. The carcase is solid maple while the exquisitely decorated doors are hung on discreet precision pivot hinges. Not only are the doors decorated on the outside, they also feature a beautifully lustrous red reconstructed wood veneer on the inside.

The Gables record cabinet was made for a furniture collector in London. The carcase is walnut with a maple “roof” and plinth both featuring ebony stringing. The door is hung using three barrel hinges that are concealed when it is closed, making for a very clean look.

Two truly unique storage solutions.
