Birds eye maple jewellery box

The box is constructed from solid maple, then veneered in birds eye maple with ebony and boxwood stringing applied to the edges. The lid is fitted using quadrant hinges to prevent damage to the hinges should it fall open. The tray is a snug fit inside the box, both of which are lined in velvet.
Because of the close fit of the tray it has a pleasant action as it slides into the box on a cushion of air.
